Vault of inception

You said you were going to continue releasing EP:s and not albums, what happened?

Well the thing is that we wanted to keep full control and manage all about Interdictor ourselves. Most of the time that is not compatible with being on a label.

Then Razgrom Music came along and gave us the chance to do a physical release. Razgrom did not put up any restrictions for our digital and streaming releases whatsoever. So this is the perfect match for Interdictor and Alexey is just the coolest guy to work with!

You could see Vault of inception as a discography of the first years of Interdictor. The most important songs of our first EP:s and singles are included as-well as new songs that will be released on a digital download and streaming EP later in February or early March.

All songs on Vault of inception have been exclusively mastered for the CD and all earlier released songs have been remastered. This CD is a collectors item limited to 300 copies. The full album will not be released to streaming or digital download. There’s a unique mix only available on the CD and the remastered material is also for this CD only.

So if you are a collector of electro-industrial or you just feel like supporting Interdictor and the Razgrom label, consider buying your copy from one of the following places:

People living in Russia should of course head over to Razgrom and buy the CD direct from their shop.

If you are living in the EU or USA, or some place in the rest of the world for that matter we recommend Poponaut.

And for all our neighbours here in Sweden just head over to our Bandcamp and order the cd directly from us.

So what will happen now, will you release another album?

Our plan is to continue working on thematic releases in the EP-format just like before. We really like the idea of working artistically with a concept where all the songs are coherent and fit together like pieces in a puzzle. It has worked really well working like that with 3-5 songs, doing it with 10-15 songs does not, at least not for us (so far). First out is the EP we have been working on with songs included on the CD.

As stated above the EP will be available for digital download and streaming in late February or early March. The EP is called Automaton and includes the songs B36/S125, Administration 1001, Federalist 0A, Byzantium and Pantheon.

Perhaps we make another physical release when we gathered enough material again. It could happen a lot faster this time, we worked on lots of new songs in the latest two years. Some is almost finished and some of it is just sketches. We would love to work with Razgrom once again so let’s just see what happens.

Right now we are working on a follow up to Automaton 0x01 and we hope we can do a little extra with an in between release, perhaps already late 2019… time will tell.

Good or evil, happy or sad, right or wrong. Humanity has reached a state where we view the world around us in yesterdays monochrome vision. There is no time to think, no need to evaluate possibilities somwhere in between the extremes.

The saying is that there are always two sides of the coin. But that is just a matter of perspective. Close enough there are thousand upon thousand facets of the coin. Your mind is a spectrograph. Given some perspective it can separate the wavelenghts. You ARE able to see the full spectrum, not just black and white.

The spaces in between me and my P6

I started refurbishing the Polysix synth some time around Christmas. Thought I could finish it up in a few weeks. But some things got in between. First the release of Noumenon that made us work day and night with “The last finishing touch”. Trimming small details of instruments until we were happy with them took us ridiculous amounts of time.  I think we synthesized and trimmed a single kick-drum for a few weeks just before christmas. I don´t know if that kind of attention to details really cuts through to the listeners but personally I think it feels satisfying knowing that we did the best we could do at the time being. There´s obviously a limit to what is sane when it comes to polishing music and perhaps we were balancing on the edge.

Some people would probably argue that this kind of attention to detail is pointless when it comes to Industrial music and all it´s harshness. But nothing could be more wrong, this genre is all about the details. We are happy with the result, but that last month or so really sucked the energy out of us. Even more so for Henrik since he is the musical mastermind of our musical project and the one that had to deal with all the small changes in the end. It was a tiresome process and  while the songs were mastered we started working on this site, our social media accounts, digital distribution channels and hell knows what. We tried some different masterings before we were truly happy. When everything was finally in place we were really really really tired.

We took a small break form synthesizers and music and I thought about taking on the Polysix again but I didn´t have the energy. A few weeks passed and with all positive feedback for Noumenon the inspiration for creation and music came back. I had an idea for a theme that we discussed a bit and we decided to start working again. We constructed the thematic framework for the songs, their content, how they connect to each other and how they should be expressed musically. Then I sat down and started to write the lyrics.

As pretentious as it may sound I really want lyrics to mean something. For me it´s not just words that sound good together. It´s very much built on emotions. The songs on Noumenon are kind of reviewing in a sense. The new songs are more from the inside of peoples minds. That made me take my mind to places I rather not visit. I actually felt physically ill writing some parts. It doesn´t mean that I managed to transfer these emotions into the lyrics but hopefully a few % of it will shine through when Henrik puts music to my words.

I thought about taking a break from the lyrics but I realized that I would never find my way back to that state of mind so I finished it in a week or two. Henrik put up some musical ideas and as I told here on the blog before we are well on our way with the new tracks. Tonight I finally had the energy back to continue the work on my Polysix. I desoldered three 4051-chips and replaced them with new ones in sockets. There are still 4051:s to be replaced but a new problem arose. Im out of 16 pin sockets.

I even felt more motivated when I plugged in the headphones to check that the synth was still ok after my soldering. This synth sounds absolutely amazing, even now when it´s totally out of tune. Im going to order 16 pin sockets and then there are about 10 more chips on the voice board that needs to be replaced before I can calibrate the machine. Hopefully I can finish that job some time before the summer vacation. Like Steve Jobs used to say, “one more thing”. I decided to replace the cpu-board with a kiwisix.

Kiwisix is actually a complete replacement board. I did fix my cpu-board from some bad battery leakage. That feels a bit stupid  now, but I didn´t know about the Kiwisix at that time. Installing the Kiwisix is fairly easy but involves some soldering. I can really recommend this board that gives the Polysix a large amount of new features. Most important for me are 1024 patches that can be saved in memory and a midi-interface. Go get it!!!

Into the studios again

The past two weeks has been a bit hectic for Henrik and me. It took us quite som effort to get Noumenon released. There is a lot more work related to a release than you expect (at least if you have the artistic approach of Interdictor). But now we have all our channels ready for the future communication with our audience.

To be honest we were a bit surprised by the overwhelming positive response we got from most people. We create music that we would like to listen to ourselves. We follow our hearts and that means no compromises. That might scare some people away but there is really nothing we can do about that. Our point of view is kind of strict when it comes to industrial music. Interdictor will continue to walk a straight path in the musical direction we have chosen.

And to prove that, we are back in our studios again, writing new material. At this time we have no indication on when this will be ready for a release. We will keep you informed about the progress in this blog. We do have a concept a theme and lyrics ready. There is also some music almost ready for the production stages so we are well on our way. Currently Henrik is located in the russian town of Togliatti and I am based in Sweden so we keep working in our own studios using the internet for our cooperation. This worked well on Noumenon so we are confident that it will end up even better this time.

Until the next post from us, thanks’s once again for all positive response and if you have any questions, feedback or just anything you want to tell us, please use the comments here on the blog or just drop us an email. We will of course answer on facebook, forums and stuff like that but the blog and email is our primary channels of communication, thats where you will get the fastest response.
